Wind in your sails
Cornwall is a much loved destination for both resident and visiting sailors and Padstow on the Camel estuary is without a doubt – one of the most idyllic sailing venues on the Northern coast.
The Camel estuary (AONB) covers seven glorious miles of the River Camel from the town of Wadebridge, past Rock to Polzeath and out to the west, Padstow and Hawkers Cove. At high water, the River Camel is navigable by small boats as far as Wadebridge.
Padstow with its sheltered harbour, is a famous centre for dinghy sailing and it’s mooring and launching facilities are suitable for all types of small craft. Slipways for trailer launches can usefully be found in the harbour at Padstow, across the estuary in Rock and further up the River Camel in Wadebridge.
The Camel Sailing & Poweboat Centre based in Wadebridge offer RYA training courses for all abilities. Learn more on their website here.
