Life’s a beach
Not only is the North coast of Cornwall one of the most dramatic in the UK, it also boasts some of the best and unspoilt surfing beaches. More and more people of all abilities are taking to the water to experience the thrill of surfing.
With so many beaches on offer all the way from Bude to Newquay, surfers really are spoilt for choice. If you're keen to learn then Harlyn Bay is an ideal place to begin. Harlyn is a wide sandy bay with a reputation as one of the ‘safer’ beaches and is therefore popular with both families and surf schools. Lifeguards patrol this beach over the Easter weekend and from the beginning of May until the end of September. The RNLI approved Harlyn Surf School is based here and you can learn more about the school here.
If you’re keen for some surfing inspiration then why not visit the English National Surf Championships, held at nearby Watergate Bay in May. Watergate Bay is also home to the famous Fifteen restaurant set up by Jamie Oliver.
